Outside the Club: Original oil painting by Daniel Jay Freed

If you are familiar with the history of American folk music, you may have heard of a bar called The Bitter End in NYC. It's where many famous folk singers played before they were famous. I used a photo of the bar I took (during the rain) while visiting there as a teenager. I really didn't try to make it accurate at all, it was just a starting point to get my imagination going. I was mainly going for mood and atmosphere. The first version I did of this was way back in 87' as an art school assignment, and I have that one shown on this site also (but it was 12" wide in round format, painted with acrylic). For this version I decided to revisit the original idea and do it much larger and with oil. Oil on stretched canvas 30" wide by 28" tall. Includes nice frame and shipping.
